About the Role:

The AC Mitigation Modeler is responsible for developing electrical models and engineering designs to evaluate and mitigate induced alternating current (AC) interference on buried pipelines. This role supports project managers and engineers by creating accurate models, performing technical analyses, preparing design deliverables, and coordinating with CAD designers to produce construction-ready drawing packages.

The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting client and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with pipeline integrity, cathodic protection, or AC mitigation engineering.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, survey data, and utility information.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AC mitigation modeling software (SES CDEGS or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of:
  • NACE/AMPP standards
  • IEEE standards
  • Pipeline industry practices
  • Cathodic protection systems
  • GIS or KMZ mapping experience.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Experience supporting utility or pipeline construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Modeling & Analysis
    • Develop AC interference models using industry-standard software.
    • Evaluate induced AC voltage, current density, and fault conditions.
    • Analyze pipeline alignment, power line characteristics, soil resistivity, coating data, and operating conditions.
    • Validate model assumptions using field survey data and engineering calculations.
    • Update models throughout the project lifecycle asnew informationbecomes available.
  • Engineering Design

    • Design AC mitigation systems including:
    • Zinc ribbon systems
    • Gradient control wires
    • Decouplers
    • Grounding systems
    • Polarization cells
    • Size mitigation materials based on modeling results.
    • Develop Bills of Material (BOMs).
    • Ensure designscomply withapplicable standards and client specifications.
  • Drawing & Documentation

    • Work closely with CAD designers to produce construction drawings.
    • Review drawing packages for technical accuracy.
    • Prepare:
    • Modeling reports
    • Design calculations
    • Technical memorandums
    • Construction packages
    • KMZ files and alignment exhibits
    • Maintain organized project documentation and revision control.
  • Project Support

    • Coordinate with Project Managersregardingschedule, scope, and priorities.
    • Participate in internal design reviews.
    • Support client meetings by explaining modeling assumptions and design recommendations.
    • Assistduring construction by responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and design questions.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement

    • Perform quality checks on modeling inputs and outputs.
    • Identifyopportunities to improve modeling standards and workflows.
    • Maintain consistency across projects through established engineering procedures.

Compensation Range: $100,000 - $130,000 annually 

The compensation range listed for this position represents ONEMESA's good-faith estimate of the pay range it reasonably expects to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, and business needs. Eligible employees may participate in ONEMESA's profit-sharing program and benefit offerings; which includes health insurance, 401(k) with generous company match, paid time off, and other company-sponsored benefits. Eligible travel and field employees may also receive additional benefits and incentives, including per diem allowances, cell phone stipends, and single-occupancy hotel accommodations.


This position is typically Monday - Friday, home every night with occasional travel (typically 1-3 nights) and rare long-term travel (typically 1-2 weeks annually). Occasional Saturday and/or Sunday work may be requested, but not mandatory.
