STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the exterior appearance and landscaping of the property to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests, team members, and visitors. The Grounds Maintenance Technician works closely with the Engineering and Maintenance teams to preserve the aesthetic and operational standards of the property.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

  • Maintain lawns, landscaped areas, gardens, and outdoor spaces through mowing, trimming, edging, and pruning.
  • Plant flowers, shrubs, and seasonal landscaping to enhance property appearance.
  • Remove weeds, leaves, debris, and litter from outdoor areas.
  • Maintain irrigation systems and monitor watering schedules.
  • Clean and maintain sidewalks, parking lots, patios, and outdoor guest areas.
  • Power wash surfaces and outdoor furniture when needed.
  • Remove snow and ice from walkways, entrances, and parking areas when applicable.
  • Assist with maintaining outdoor lighting fixtures and signage.
  • Operate landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge cutters, and other maintenance tools.
  • Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and safely stored.
  • Report equipment issues to the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Engineer.
  • Maintain safe walking areas for guests and employees.
  • Follow proper safety procedures when using landscaping tools and equipment.
  • Identify and report potential hazards or maintenance concerns around the property.
  • Work closely with the Engineering, Maintenance, and housekeeping teams to maintain property appearance.
  • Assist with outdoor event setups and breakdowns when needed.
  • Support special property projects such as seasonal decorations or landscaping upgrades.

Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager.  Furthermore, tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1–2 years of landscaping, groundskeeping, or property maintenance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic landscaping techniques and equipment operation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining property standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
