The Project Accountant II is responsible for independently managing financial activities for assigned commercial HVAC, BAS, service, and construction projects. This position works closely with project managers and operational teams to monitor project financial performance, manage billing activities, track costs, and support accurate reporting throughout the project lifecycle.Â
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage project setup, billing, revenue tracking, and project financial administration.
- Prepare customer invoices, progress billings, time-and-material billings, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
- Analyze project financial performance and identify variances, risks, and opportunities.
- Assist project managers with forecasting, cost tracking, and profitability analysis.
- Manage contract compliance requirements, change orders, lien waivers, and project documentation.
- Perform project reconciliation and support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Collaborate with accounting, operations, sales, and project management teams to support successful project execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in project accounting, construction accounting, finance, or related accounting functions.
- Strong understanding of project accounting principles, contract billing, and job costing.Â
- Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software.Â
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.Â
