DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist in the design, testing, and implementation of process improvements and manufacturing equipment upgrades

2. Collect and analyze production data to identify areas for process optimization and waste reduction

3. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles

4. Create and update manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

5. Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for quality or performance issues

6. Assist with time studies, tooling evaluations, and equipment layout design in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)

7. Collaborate with operations teams to improve equipment reliability and uptime

8. Ensure all project activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

9. Model professionalism and accountability

10.Other duties as necessary

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical field

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo) and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Coursework or certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Process Optimization
  • Exposure to assembly, welding, and machining operations used in axle and suspension component production, through academic labs, prior internships, or cooperative education programs
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Minitab, MATLAB, or Excel VBA
