The Staff Accountant position is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. The Staff Accountant will manage bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly addressed. Additionally, this role involves detailed landed cost reporting and general ledger maintenance to provide insightful financial data that supports operational decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage landed cost reporting and conduct landed cost analysis to track and allocate expenses to support operational decision making.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to verify and balance cash accounts.
  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely to the general ledger.
  • Analyze balance sheet accounts and perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation of financial reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve financial processes.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting principles and company policies in all financial documentation.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of accounting records.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in accounting roles, preferably within transportation, warehousing, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in bank reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management.
  • Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems commonly used in the transportation and warehousing sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
