We’re hiring an Assistant Café Manager to Live. Work. Explore. at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon!
Job Summary:
Manage all restaurant operations to include staff supervision, guest service, training and administrative duties. Provide oversight of dining room, kitchen, bar, auxiliary service areas, day tours and special functions.
The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $46,384.00 per year
Schedule: May include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities
- Oversee proper operation of dining room including service flow on serving lines, quick and efficient cashiering, expedient serving of tour groups, and ensuring that food lines are properly stocked.
- As directed by Cafeteria Manager, schedule segments of the front of the house staff keeping scheduling in line with labor budget, business levels, special functions and staff levels.
- Maintain the shift log communicating shift activities, personnel issues, guest issues, back of the house issues, cover counts and other issues pertinent to the shift activities.
- Make recommendations to the Cafeteria Manager regarding employees for promotion in the front of the house.
- Assist the Cafeteria Manager in writing annual reviews for hourly staff.
- Administer corrective action as necessary consulting/communicating with the Cafeteria Manager or Food & Beverage Executive Management as necessary. Ensure that Human Resources management approves any discharges.
- Handle all guest requests/complaints/issues and suggestions with professionalism, sincerity, knowledge and expediency.
- Assist the Cafeteria Manager with payroll, monthly inventory and ordering of supplies.
- Communicate with the Cafeteria Manager on needs of facility, equipment, supplies and staff.
- Check side work duties prior to checking out employees, ensure opening and closing duties have been completed and make certain staff is ready to work in appropriate, clean uniform.
- Act as link with kitchen management on 86’d items, daily specials, items dragging, etc. and communicate information to front of house staff.
- Check in on lounge operations as needed, providing same level of service as in dining room.
- Assist bartenders as needed in cutting off lounge patrons, checking IDs, and maintaining an orderly operation.
- Assist cashiers with cash drops and deposits as needed, assisting when drop does not equal readout. Help with POS system troubleshooting as required.
- Ensure that assigned staff is adhering to risk management procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment, MSDS location and comprehension, ergonomics and slip and fall.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- One year of supervisory experience in high volume Food & Beverage operation.
- Knowledge of lounge operations, liquor laws and TIPS program.
- Ability to train entry-level employees in dealing with high-volume food service and providing quality guest service
- Knowledge of and experience with computerized POS systems, preferably Simphony.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with a broad cross-section of guests and employees.
- Basic accounting skills with ability to figure labor budgets, sales, costs of services and ability to analyze P&L statements.
- Ability to successfully pass ServSafe food sanitation class.
- Must be available for evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Constantly stand, walk, handle, reach outward, reach above the shoulder, bend, lift/carry up to 20 lbs, push/pull up to 25 lbs.
- Frequently climb, lift/carry up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally sit, crawl, squat/kneel, lift up to 100 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs
