Job Description:

The Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to hire a Paralegal 1. The Paralegal will perform a wide range of office administrative duties, including, but not limited to, legal support such as preparation of legal documents and correspondence; client management, including jail visitations; and operations support and external communications. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Enthusiasm and strong interpersonal skills are a must.

Description of Duties: Provides legal research to support litigation, build defense, and initiate legal or administrative action. Prepares and drafts legal documents in support of attorneys, staff and clients. Assists the office with schedules for hearings, appointments, and interviews.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience as a legal assistant in a legal environment; or certificate from a paralegal training program.
