Job Title: IT Intern

The IT Intern will support the Information Technology team by assisting with documentation, infrastructure tracking, software and asset management, and internal IT projects. This role provides hands-on experience in IT operations, systems management, and organizational technology practices while offering exposure to a wide range of IT functions and initiatives.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, eager to learn, and interested in developing practical experience in information technology and systems administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duration: This is a 22-week internship
Documentation & Process Management
- Document IT processes, procedures, configurations, and workflows for future reference and operational consistency.
- Maintain accurate records of hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
- Assist in creating and updating internal IT documentation and manuals.
Collaboration & Team Support
- Work closely with the IT team to support ongoing technology projects and initiatives.
- Participate in meetings, planning sessions, and project updates.
- Provide administrative and technical support for IT operations as needed.
Research & Technology Awareness
- Research emerging IT trends, tools, and technologies.
- Recommend improvements or efficiencies based on industry best practices.
- Assist in evaluating software, hardware, and IT management solutions.

IT Projects & Areas of Focus:
The IT Intern may assist with the following projects and initiatives:
Infrastructure & Inventory
- Document inventory and IT infrastructure
- Maintain asset tracking records
- Assist with equipment organization and lifecycle management
Software & License Management
- Track software installations and licensing compliance
- Assist with software audits and renewal documentation
- Help organize software inventory records
Network & Executive Diagrams
- Create and update network diagrams
- Develop executive-level technology overview diagrams
- Assist with infrastructure mapping and visualization
Policies & Procedures
- Support development and maintenance of internal IT policies and procedures
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness

Internal IT Audits:
Assist with internal audits related to:
- Toner and printer management
- Hardware and IT assets
- Software usage and licensing
- User roles and permissions
- Security groups and access management

Qualifications and Skills
- Currently pursuing a degree or certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace applications
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with IT inventory systems or ticketing platforms
- Basic knowledge of network infrastructure and diagrams
- Interest in cybersecurity, systems administration, or IT operations
- Experience with Microsoft Windows environments and common business software

This remote IT Intern position is primarily sedentary and requires extended periods of sitting while working at a computer. Duties include frequent typing, mouse use, and screen viewing. The role is fully remote and requires a quiet, dedicated workspace with a reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable computer. Employees must maintain a safe, ergonomic setup and participate in virtual meetings as needed.
