Grooming Assistant

Seneca Hill Animal Hospital Resort and Spa is looking for a friendly animal loving individual to join our grooming team!

At Seneca, our goal is to provide excellent veterinary services to the community and do everything possible to help those in need. We are a full-service state-of-the-art animal hospital located in Crown Point, IN.  Each one of our employees are chosen based on their compassion, skills and in-depth veterinary knowledge. We strive to create a nurturing, educational, and fun environment for all employees, clients, and animals who enter our doors.

Our professionally trained groomers need dedicated hardworking assistants to help manage their workload. We offer the potential for growth and opportunity for on the job training as positions open up! 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist Pet Groomers with bathing, blow-drying, brushing in an efficient and effective manner

  • Bathe animals going home from boarding

  • Safely and properly restrain animals for hair-cuts

  • Prepare the bathing area

  • Mix shampoos and conditioner to proper dilution ratios

  • Maintain a clean work station

  • Clean cages

  • Confirm next day grooming appointments with clients

  • Schedule future grooming appointments

  • Assist the Groomers with invoicing

  • Fill out grooming forms

  • Knowledge about the vaccine schedule and required boosters for animals

  • Make calls to clients when pets are ready for pick-up

Skills Needed:

  • Love and compassion for animals

  • Positive attitude

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions

  • Effective communication skills

  • Experience caring for animals, proper animal handling and restraint techniques (or willingness to learn)

  • Ability to learn veterinary software

  • Exceptional customer service skills

  • Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to stand and bend for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

  • Detail-oriented, outgoing, reliable and honest

  • Weekend availability

Physical Obligations:

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Endure standing and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods of time

  • Able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment

  • Take safety precautions for exposure to toxins, drugs, anesthesia and radiation

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years old
