Job Scope      

The Facility Manager oversees the operation of Greeley's Non-Ferrous Metals Recovery operation by achieving production goals, recovery efficiencies, product quality and operating costs.  

  • Sets operating schedules, daily and monthly production goals, and operating processes in conjunction with other facility managers and supervisors.  
  • Ensures outbound product standards meet customer quality requirements.  Works with marketing on quality, sales and homes for materials. Schedules shipments and orders trucks/containers
  • Responsible for safety and environmental compliance for the operation and its personnel.  Leads safety improvement activities and is actively engaged in Alter’s safety program.  Conducts the monthly safety training. Takes action to ensure ongoing compliance to landfill, stormwater and other environmental requirements.
  • Manages the people side of the facility by partnering with HR to attract and retain talent; Responsible for the employee relations for the assigned facility to include performance management and terminations.
  • Manages spare parts inventory, preventative and emergency maintenance of all equipment in the operation to ensure preservation of capital investment and minimization of unplanned downtime.
  • Manages construction projects to include contacting and scheduling contractors as needed to preserve the longevity of the facility. Ensures that contractors are in compliance with Alter’s policies and procedures. Manages the associated Capex for facility projects.
  • Works with Alter engineers and peers in other NF Recovery facilities to drive operational improvements and future large-scale facility modifications and upgrades.
  • Diligently and accurately tracks production volumes on a daily basis. Enters this information into existing spreadsheets and IT systems to ensure accurate reporting of financial results.
  • Represents Alter Trading in the industry and community by leading tours of this world-class facility for guests, customers and other stakeholders.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned or directed.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.  Prefer Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or other related curriculum, but experienced manufacturing leaders should apply regardless of formal education.
  • 5-7 years recent and relevant experience preferred in being directly accountable for managing a production operation and workforce; will consider candidates with 3+ years
  • Must be familiar with mechanical and electrical maintenance.  Experience with conveyors is a plus.
  • Able to utilize Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel to communicate and track information.
  • Must have excellent open communication style to carry out ongoing dialogues in a way that creates trust and confidence within all levels of the company.  
  • Ability to travel occasionally to other facilities or customers as needed.  Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Proven experience in continuously improving manufacturing effectiveness

Supervision

This position supervises all manufacturing personnel across all shifts and days of operation.  Directly manages up to 15-17 total employees including the following on each respective shift: supervisor, laborers and equipment operators.  Facility is likely to run multiple shifts.  Transitions potential staff members from existing yard operations to this new operation and recruits supplemental staff.
