Summary/Purpose

Provide leadership to your department consisting of a supervisor(s), technicians and operators.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Develop unit budgets and performance targets
  • Execute production to achieve customer order / shipment requirements
  • Directly interface with customers on all business related issues, with specific attention to quality and delivery.
  • Support new program launches in the transition of process development to actual manufacturing capability
  • Supervise and provide direction to reporting team leaders
  • Build and support continuity and communications between shifts
  • Support inventory reduction and cost improvement strategies
  • Maintain positive employee relations and development
  • Manage achievement of quality, quantity, and cost objectives
  • Support ongoing safety initiatives and adherence to safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance to all quality, health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Work daily overtime and Saturdays and/or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for supervising a department consisting of process engineer(s), supervisor(s), technicians, and operators.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish leadership role and promote team system
  • Experience in continuous flow and lean production in the automotive industry
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding and commitment to HS&E initiatives
  • Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems

The above may be waived by the department Manager and the Human Resources Manager if the candidate is otherwise qualified.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 5 – 7 years’ experience in precision metal removal and assembly operations

Work Environment/Physical Demands: 

  • Sit with intermittent walking
  • Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing
  • Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone
  • Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
  • Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week

Employee may perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
