Omitron is seeking an HSF Communications Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the Flight Dynamics Support Services III (FDSS-III) contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). This position supports NASA Human Space Flight missions, including the International Space Station, SpaceX Dragon, Artemis, the Human Landing System, and other current and future exploration initiatives. Working remotely (with occasional travel), you will collaborate with NASA Network Elements, Mission Managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to support mission planning, systems engineering activities, technical documentation, network reviews, and communications system integration to ensure mission success.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, validate, and implement engineering solutions supporting crewed and robotic missions in low Earth orbit and lunar missions.
  • Evaluate design documentation and verification activities for compliance with customer requirements and hazard controls.
  • Review system-level test results, technical reports, and engineering review packages.
  • Develop and deliver systems engineering products and technical deliverables supporting mission objectives.
  • Provide systems engineering support for technical reviews and mission planning activities.
  • Prepare technical analyses, status reports, and performance assessments.
  • Author, review, and maintain technical documentation including requirements documents, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), test plans, verification matrices, service level agreements (SLAs), and related engineering documentation.
  • Participate in requirements reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and peer reviews.
  • Perform anomaly investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support national and international working groups and technical review boards.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across NASA centers, partner organizations, and internal teams.
  • Support satellite network planning and coordination activities.
  • Participate in occasional travel and off-hours support when coordinating with international partners.
Minimum Requirements:
  • US Citizenship required
  • Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or another related technical discipline
  • Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
    • Understanding of satellite communications, including space-to-ground communications, baseband processing, or related specialties
    • Experience authoring technical documentation, engineering procedures, requirements documentation, and analysis reports
    • Experience performing engineering analysis, fault isolation, and problem resolution
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
    • Experience presenting technical information to engineering review boards and stakeholders
  • Certifications: None required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Master's degree in a technical discipline
  • Experience:
    • Human spaceflight or mission-critical systems engineering experience
    • Spacecraft integration, testing, launch, and mission operations experience
    • Systems engineering process experience
    • Requirements development and interface management experience
    • Failure analysis or fault management experience
    • Experience developing verification documentation
  • Certifications: Relevant systems engineering or communications certifications are a plus
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $165,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, technical expertise, certifications, security clearance, geographic location, internal equity, market conditions, contract requirements, and other factors.
