Job DetailsJob Location: PUTNAM COUNTY HOSPITAL - GREENCASTLE, IN 46135Job Shift: DayJob Summary:  The Nursing Assistant assists nurses and other medical staff by providing direct personal care for patients. Job Duties/Responsibilities:   •    Provides for patient's personal hygiene and daily living. This may include providing and clearing bedpans and urinals, providing baths, backrubs, shampoos and shaves, and assisting patients with showers. Assists with meals and feeds patients. Ambulates, turns and positions patients. Provides fresh water and nourishment between meals. •    Provides adjunct care by administering enemas, douches, nonsterile dressing, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz, therapeutic baths, and may assist with removing or placing restraints. •    Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials, transporting patients, answering call lights, requests, and reporting observations of the patient to nursing staff. •    Performs I&Os; checks vital signs and weight; performs bedside blood glucose testing, specimen collection, and post-mortem care. •    Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees. Maintains good working relations with nursing unit staff and other hospital employees through appropriate communication. •    Instills confidence in patients by maintaining a neat appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner. Reports observations of patients to the nurse caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment. •    With specialized training and written approval, may perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to the assigned area. •    Documents actions by completely forms, reports, logs, and records •    Maintains work operations by following polices and procedures.  Protects organizational values by keeping patients information confidential.  Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, completing required annual education. Performs other duties as assigned.   QualificationsEducation Experience:    HS Graduate or Equivalent  Age Requirement:    18+ Job Requirements:     •    Maintains a safe environment for patients and co-workers; transports patients and equipment as appropriate •    Prolonged periods of standing and walking •    Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times •    Ability to work with integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism •    Excellent verbal and written communication •    Strong time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks •    Current BLS Certification Preferred Skills:     •    Previous hospital experience
