As a Cook, you’ll play an important role in creating enjoyable dining experiences for our residents while ensuring their meals meet individual dietary needs. Pay: $10.50/hour

About the Role

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with planned menus, prescribed resident diets, recipes, portion sizes, temperature controls, facility policies, and applicable dietary and sanitary regulations. This position works under the supervision of the Dietary Services Manager.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and serve meals according to planned menus, recipes, resident diets, portion requirements, and temperature-control procedures.

  • Ensure meals are prepared accurately and meet residents’ individual dietary needs and preferences.

  • Review meal trays for accuracy, including menu selections and prescribed diets, before service.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and dining environment.

  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, dishes, utensils, and floors as needed.

  • Properly store food, supplies, and equipment while following food safety and infection-control procedures.

  • Ensure food and supplies are stocked and available for upcoming meals.

  • Assist with receiving, inventorying, and properly storing incoming food and supplies.

  • Follow all safety, sanitation, universal precautions, and infection-control policies and procedures.

  • Report hazardous conditions, equipment issues, accidents, and incidents to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Be comfortable working in varying temperatures, including near ovens and stoves and inside walk-in refrigerators and freezers.

  • Work collaboratively with the dietary team and other facility staff to provide excellent service to our residents.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Food Handler’s Permit and/or ServSafe certification as required by state regulations.

  • Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare, senior living, or institutional setting is preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.

  • Dependable, positive attitude with a genuine desire to serve and care for others.

  • Ability to interact respectfully and positively with residents, families, and fellow team members.

  • Commitment to following food safety, sanitation, and infection-control standards.
