This is a fully onsite role based at ourĀ 2710Ā Innovation WayĀ location inĀ Greenfield, IN.Ā We welcomeĀ applicantsĀ from all locations within the US. AsĀ the siteĀ Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)Ā Specialist,Ā you'llĀ leadĀ theĀ facilityĀ EHS efforts,Ā provide expert guidance and leadership in environmental health, safety, and sustainability programs across the organization.Ā You'llĀ collaborate withĀ site-basedĀ teams at all levels to develop and implement comprehensive EHS management systems, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and create a strong safety-focused culture.Ā Ā You will collaborateĀ with,Ā be supported by andĀ learn fromĀ EHS colleagues around the globe. Ā This role combines strategic thinking with practical problem-solving to protect our employees, environment, and facilities while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.Ā

A Day in the Life:Ā 

  • ManagesĀ the Environmental, Health and Safety program at the Greenfield facility.Ā Ā Ā 
  • Ensures that all licensing, permitting, or other environmental, health or safety requirements are met at assigned site and takesĀ appropriate actionsĀ to ensure that any non-compliance issues are resolved.   Responds to EHS-related regulatory inspections and/or inquiries.Ā Ā 
  • Maintains up to date knowledge and ensures thatĀ programsĀ meet federal, state, and local requirements (e.g,Ā IOSHA,Ā IDEM, DOT, etc.), as well as company EHS requirements.Ā Ā Develops and updates allĀ environmental,Ā healthĀ and safety relatedĀ programsĀ rĀ the Greenfield laboratoryĀ facility.   
  • Updates site management on new or changed regulationsĀ in a timely manner.  Pro-activelyĀ makes recommendations onĀ feasibleĀ solutions and alternativesĀ that ensureĀ compliance.  
  • Responds to inquiriesĀ from employees and leaders. Ā Ā 
  • CoordinatesĀ safe removal and disposal of hazardous/biological waste from facility on a regularĀ basis.  Maintains and monitors waste manifest system.  Completes reporting forms and documents for all required regulatory agencies.   Monitors hazardous waste removalĀ vendors andĀ may assist in consolidating hazardous wastes.Ā 
  • Develops andĀ conductsĀ environmental,Ā health and safety training programs, including refresherĀ trainingsĀ as required by regulations.    
  • May leadĀ the Environmental,Ā Health & Safety committees, act asĀ ChemicalĀ Hygiene Officer,Ā Workers CompĀ coordinator,Ā SpillĀ Response Team leader, Emergency Action Plan coordinator,Ā etc,Ā Ā 
  • Seeks guidance and support from senior EHS leaders, asĀ needed.Ā Performs periodic safety inspections.Ā Ā 

Keys to Success:Ā 

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification.Ā Preferred Fields of Study: Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry,Ā BiologyĀ or related technical fieldĀ 

  

PreviousĀ experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable toĀ 5Ā years).ā€Æā€œLaboratory, pharmaceutical, biotech, clinical research, healthcare, or regulated manufacturing environment preferred.ā€Ā 

  

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination ofĀ appropriate education,Ā trainingĀ and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge,Ā SkillsĀ and Abilities:Ā 

  • In-depthĀ knowledge ofĀ IOSHA,Ā IDEM,Ā DOT andĀ other applicable regulations,Ā includingĀ hazardous/infectious waste regulations, chemical/biologicalĀ safety regulations.Ā Ā 
  • ExperienceĀ implementing and maintaining EHS programs (e.g., Chemical Hygiene,Ā PPE, Respiratory Protection,Ā Hazard Communication,Ā Ergonomics,Ā etc.)Ā 
  • Experience with emergency response and business continuity planningĀ 
  • Ability to interact successfully with the site leadership team.Ā Ā 
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to provide effective training  
  • SolidĀ problem-solvingĀ skills  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Strong judgment and business acumen  
  • Strong computer skills includingĀ abilityĀ toĀ utilizeĀ an EHSĀ Management Systems application.Ā Ā
