Bascom Hunter designs, develops, and manufacturers environmental control systems and components for the aerospace and defense industry. The Mechanical Designer role supports product design, development, manufacturing, and research and development.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Supporting the wider Engineering team by preparing high-quality drawings and bill of materials using CAD software
- Using your knowledge andexpertiseto provide solutions to a variety of technical inquiries
- Delivering all drawings according to an agreed-upon timeline, costestimateand all relevant quality standards
- Ensuringaccurateapplication and implementation of standard processes and tools in the preparation ofaccuratedrawings
- Other duties as assigned by engineering manager
Required Job Skills:
- Experience designing / drafting mechanical components and assemblies in CAD
- Ability to read and interpret detailed customer drawings
- Thorough understanding of common manufacturing and joining processes for metal, plastic, and composite parts
- Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancingalong with ASME Y14.5 (2009 or newer)
- Thorough understanding of CAD software and PDM vaults
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Preference for candidates withSolidworksexperience
- Preference for candidate with working knowledge of aerospace specifications and standards
- Preference for associate degree in drafting or mechanical design
- Position is 100% onsite.
