Schedule
- Monday - Friday
- Variable hours: 8:00AM - 5:00 PM
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years prior experience in a medical office.
- One year of medical insurance and billing experience.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard office software preferred.

Paid Maternity/Paternity Leave
After one year of employment and 1,250 hours worked, Eagle provides up to two weeks of paid maternity/paternity leave for the birth or adoption of a child. Leave is prorated based on FTE status.

Key Responsibilities
- Makes appropriate patient referrals at the direction of the provider and works closely with providers to ensure referrals meet the medical and insurance needs of the patient.
- Completes referral forms and coordinates with providers to ensure all pertinent medical records and documentation are forwarded to the referred specialty.
- Verifies patient insurance eligibility and coverage on a daily basis.
- Obtains insurance coverage, pre-certifications, and prior authorizations for procedures and physician-ordered tests, including Capsule Endoscopy, MRI, CT, ultrasound, and other services as required.
- Enters, updates, and maintains accurate patient demographic and insurance information in the billing system.
- Prepares and emails patient procedure instructions and prepares and mails patient cost estimate letters approximately two weeks prior to the scheduled procedure date.
- Answers patient calls and provides assistance regarding billing, coding, cost estimates, insurance coverage, and related questions.
- Serves as a resource for staff, providers, and patients regarding insurance, billing, referrals, authorizations, and related processes.
- Reviews hospital charges for completion and accuracy and submits charges to EBS in a timely manner.
- Works directly with EBS staff to clarify billing issues and assist with resolving patient and billing-related questions.
- Cross-trains and assists with front office administrative functions as needed, including patient check-in and check-out, scheduling, answering phones, and providing general clerical support.
- Maintains accurate, timely, legible, and confidential documentation using appropriate grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
- Follows HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality and maintains the security of Protected Health Information (PHI), employee information, and business information.
- Does not exhibit, divulge, copy, remove, or otherwise disclose the contents of any patient or business record except as necessary to fulfill assigned job responsibilities.
- Attends required staff meetings and participates in committees and organizational activities as requested.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations as appropriate.
- Shows respect, courtesy, professionalism, and advocacy in all interactions with patients, coworkers, providers, and visitors.
- Displays a positive attitude and team-oriented spirit, with a willingness to assist where and whenever needed.
