Role Overview:

To ensure all finished product are printed accurately and meet all quality and customer standards.

Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Match and maintain consistent color and quality of product 

  • Machine operations including press register and efficient machine set ups 

  • Understanding ink/water balance 

  • Understanding LAB and Color Spectrum

  • Ensure all information and materials are properly gathered and utilized to run job 

  • Direct crew members

  • Follow production schedule

  • Follow all safety rules and standard operating procedures 

  • Housekeeping (organizing and keeping area neat and clean)

  • Fill out logs and checklist

  • Meet with incoming operator at shift change to discuss any issues that occurred during shift

  • Preventative maintenance

  • Perform other tasks as assigned

 

Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma, GED

 

Qualification & Experience

  • Basic maintenance skills

  • Ability to read and use ruler 

  • 2 years previous offset printing experience / Manroland Presses 

  • Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS Be able to communicate with supervisors and understand simple instructions. Be able to read and understand operator’s manual (Accommodations will be made to employees). Employee must also be able to write work orders and fill out necessary production paperwork.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Must be able to add and subtract basic fractions (5+5).  Be able to use a calculator for addition, subtraction, multiplying and dividing.

 

REASONING ABILITY Be able to isolate and solve basic mechanical problems – Basic machine troubleshooting. Employee will be given a color perception test.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds from the ground above the head. This job requires some stooping, twisting and turning, repetitive wrist and hand motions including gripping, and standing on your feet all day.   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT Employee must wear protective glasses, safety vest, earplugs, steel toe shoes and bump cap. The plant is generally clean of debris and clutter, but the manufacturing process generates a fair amount of dust.  There are hazardous materials in the manufacturing process (see MSDS book). The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Most of the work is inside the plant with occasional work (<1% of the time) outside.  The plant is not climate controlled being chilly in the winter (above freezing) and is hot in the summer (non-air conditioned).
