Description: What you'll be doing

Another Source's client, UNC Greensboro (UNCG), is recruiting a Project Manager (Journey) to join their Facilities Design and Construction team in Greensboro, North Carolina. This is primarily an onsite position with flexible work hours and limited teleworking available for consideration.

About this role: 

This is an opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of renovation and capital improvement projects across a complex university environment. UNCG's Facilities Design and Construction (FDC) team manages approximately 90+ projects simultaneously, representing more than $400 million in annual funding from State appropriations, State Repair and Renovation funds, and other funding sources. 

As Project Manager, you will take ownership of multiple projects at various stages of planning, design, and construction. Individual projects may range from less than $30,000 to more than $4 million and may involve coordination with the North Carolina State Construction Office. 

You will serve as a key connection between campus clients, design professionals, contractors, vendors, University departments, and State partners—helping ensure each project delivers the required scope and quality while remaining on schedule and within budget. 

Your Contribution Will Likely Include 

Project Management – 75% 

  • Manage multiple capital and facilities projects through planning, design, construction, and completion. 
  • Develop comprehensive project budgets, schedules, estimates, and scopes for assigned projects. 
  • Partner with campus clients to define project requirements and establish clear expectations for scope, schedule, budget, and quality. 
  • Prepare technical scoping documents and project declarations of scope for client review and approval. 
  • Coordinate contracted architectural, engineering, design, and construction services. 
  • Review project and construction documents for accuracy and alignment with approved scope, budget, schedule, and University requirements. 
  • Coordinate required reviews with the North Carolina State Construction Office and appropriate University stakeholders. 
  • Ensure review comments and questions are appropriately addressed before projects advance to subsequent phases. 
  • Monitor project budgets and schedules throughout the project lifecycle and recommend appropriate changes when needed. 
  • Manage contractual requirements and support contract formation, payment processing, and project documentation. 
  • Maintain strong client engagement throughout each project and provide consistent communication regarding progress, scope changes, schedules, and other developments. 
  • Attend site visits and project meetings to monitor construction progress, quality, and adherence to project requirements. 
  • Inspect work in place and provide appropriate documentation and direction to contractors. 
  • Coordinate inspections and project requirements with campus partners, including Facilities Operations, Information Technology Services, University Police, and other departments as needed. 

Reporting – 10% 

  • Maintain accurate and timely project information across required databases and reporting systems. 
  • Update and manage project schedules using applicable scheduling software. 
  • Provide clear reporting on project status, milestones, budgets, schedules, and emerging issues. 

Collaboration & Employee Engagement – 10% 

  • Participate actively in departmental and divisional meetings. 
  • Contribute your project experience and technical perspective to the continued development of UNCG's design and construction guidelines. 
  • Build productive working relationships across the University and with external project partners. 

Additional Assignments – 5% 

  • Support specific initiatives and assignments identified by the Assistant Director and Director of Facilities Design and Construction. 

Experience You Will Bring 

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline related to the area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 
  • Degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, budgets, and stakeholders simultaneously. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, University departments, and external agencies. 
  • Strong communication, organization, documentation, and project coordination skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and active construction-site environments. 

Preferred experience includes: 

  • Three to five years of experience in building design, building construction, and/or design and construction project management. 
  • Design and construction experience involving higher education facilities. 
  • Experience managing projects involving the North Carolina State Construction Office. 
  • Project Management, Construction Management, or Facilities Management certification.
