The Quality Engineer Technician supports product quality, yield performance, and QMS effectiveness within manufacturing operations. This role ensures compliance with ISO 9001 and customer requirements while applying engineering and statistical methods to improve process stability, yield, and cost of quality across fabrication processes.
The position works cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and customers to ensure the consistent delivery of high‑performance, reliable products.
Key Responsibilities
QMS & Compliance
- Support compliance with ISO 9001 and internal QMS requirements
- Maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and records
- Support internal, customer, and certification audits
- Execute CAPA using structured problem‑solving methods (8D, DMAIC)
- Support document control, change management, and traceability
- Support supplier quality activities, including incoming quality and SCARs
Process Quality & Manufacturing Support
- Collaborate with fabrication, coating, polishing, and engineering teams to support process stability and yield
- Provide day‑to‑day production support to resolve quality issues and minimize downtime
- Support review of process changes, deviations, and nonconformances
- Perform root cause analysis for scrap, rework, and yield loss
- Support NPI, process qualification, and validation efforts
Data Analytics, SPC & Yield
- Implement and maintain SPC on critical process parameters
- Analyze process capability (Cp/Cpk/Ppk), yield, and defect trends
- Develop reports and dashboards for quality and yield metrics
- Perform analysis including DOE, Pareto, and trend analysis
- Utilize MES/SPC tools for early detection of process excursions
Risk, Inspection & Nonconformance
- Participate in PFMEA/DFMEA and maintain risk assessments
- Support development of control plans, inspection strategies, and sampling plans
- Support MSA / Gauge R&R, calibration, and inspection validation
- Support MRB activities, nonconformance handling, and corrective actions
- Track scrap, rework, and customer escape trends; support FA/RMA activities
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Support Lean improvement initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve yield, reliability, and process capability
- Train operators and technicians on quality and inspection standards
- Collaborate across engineering, operations, and supply chain teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 2-5+ years in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing
- Strong background in process quality, SPC, DOE, and root cause analysis
- Effective cross‑functional communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and QMS processes
- Experience with SPC, DOE, FMEA, CAPA, and control plans
- Proficiency with Minitab, JMP, Python, Tableau, or similar tools
- Familiarity with semiconductor, optical, or precision manufacturing
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $70,000 – 90,000USD. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
