Job Title: Dishwasher/Utility Worker

Program/Department: Potter's House

Reports to: Director of Potter's House

FLSA Status: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Position Summary: Works 20-25 hours per week to assist chef, staff, and volunteers at the Potter's House Community Kitchen. Assist with kitchen clean up and meal preparation at the Potter's House.

Work schedule: 8:00 AM-1:00 PM shifts during weekdays and weekends.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with kitchen clean up including washing pots, pans, dishes, kitchen equipment, sweeping, and mopping floors.
• Assist in the dining room and takeout window as needed.
• Assist with inventory of stock.
• Treat all clients, employees, and volunteers with respect, sincerity, and compassion as stated in GUM’s mission statement.

Other Functions:

• Assist in the preparation of meals as directed by the supervisor/chef.
• Other duties as the Director of Potter's House may be deemed necessary.
• Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

Equipment Used:

• All kitchen equipment including stoves, refrigerators, freezers, utensils, and dishwasher.
• Cleaning supplies and equipment.

Working Conditions:

• Kitchen environment.
• Must be able to withstand varying temperatures such as hot temperatures in the kitchen and dining area.
• Must be compassionate, flexible, and demonstrate the ability to deal with diverse people and situations.

Requirements

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Speaking, standing, carrying, climbing, reaching, sitting, walking, push/pull, lifting, bending, sweeping, and mopping.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Two years of experience in food experience or in a kitchen environment.
