The Community Music Program at Seton Hill University is hiring qualified instructors to teach private music lessons in Piano, Trumpet, Guitar, and Percussion.  
 

The Community Music Program is designed to develop the musicianship of children and adults in the local area. The faculty, staff and facilities of Seton Hill University provide a comprehensive program for students wishing to advance their musical training and performance through quality musical instruction.


Students who are just beginning or those who have studied for many years can benefit from the knowledge and experience of a professional faculty member. The focus of our program is serious and thorough study, as well as personal growth through music. Instructors maintain their own schedule and lessons are held at the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center in Downtown Greensburg.  


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include teaching weekly one-on-one private music lessons to develop the student’s instrumental technique, performance ability, and basic skills including but not limited to scales and chords, proper fingerings and posture, and learning appropriate literature for the student’s age and ability. Instructors will be responsible for communicating schedules with student or student’s parent/guardian on a regular basis, documenting lesson dates and times, entering time into the payroll software, requesting teaching space through the appropriate method, encouraging and preparing students to perform in fall and spring recitals, and providing feedback and periodic evaluations to the student on their progress.  Students who request to begin lessons are assigned by the Director in a fair and balanced manner with consideration given to the student's goals, needs, and availability.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in music education or performance preferred (Extensive performance or teaching experience also considered)

  • Strong time-management and communication skills

  • Advanced performance skills on major instrument


PAY RATE: Varies according to experience and credentials.
