EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Carpenter maintains the construction of additions, the repairing of buildings and the remodeling of sections on campus property.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Determines the best order to complete each task according to importance and time.
• Installs locks, door closers, dry wall, floor and ceiling tile, mica, and air conditioners.
• Repairs Roofs.
• Repairs and/or Replacement of sidewalks.
• Builds/Designs concrete walls and bookshelves.
• Enforces efficiency and safety for the jobs being performed.
• Maintains doors, windows, floors, handrails and furniture.
• Responds to calls from students, faculty and staff concerning unanticipated problems.
• Spot-Checks all buildings for need of repair.
• Performs all other duties as may be required for campus functions and other various department needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma
• 2-3 years of trade school (carpentry) and/or equivalent commercial carpentry experience
• Flexibility to work daylight, nights, weekends, overtime, or as needed in addition to working independently
• Good communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work off ladder, step stool, and/or scaffolding
• Ability when necessary to lift up to 100 pounds

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• PA license to operate 22 or 38 cal. nail gun
