What to Expect with this Position:

Schutte Excavating is located in Greensburg, IN.  Our company has been steadily growing over the last several years and are looking to expand our workforce.  Schutte Excavating’s focus is on Community Development Block Grant Projects, Storm Sewer Projects, General Construction Management, Concrete Construction, Site Development.  We travel within a 60-mile radius of Greensburg.  Current position we are looking to fill is Concrete Foreman. This position would encompass the ability to read and interpret blueprint and drawings and determine specific materials and measurements needed for a project.  Understands the concrete prep, forming, pouring, and finishing process thoroughly.  The 3+ years of strong concrete experience forming and finishing concrete, sidewalks, curbs, and structures.  Dependability is crucial to this position. 


Some specific duties of a concrete foreman may include:
  • Review plans and layout concrete scope for project
  • Plan, organize, prepared work areas for concrete
  • Help with manage crews of 3-6 employees
  • Comprehend and complete tasks given in an efficient manner.
  • Rough carpentry skills including cutting and shaping wood using hand and power tools
  • Manual physical labor for 8+ hours a day, lifting 25+ lbs frequently, bending, twisting, etc. and ability to adapt to changing weather conditions.
  • Hand digging, raking gravel, setting forms, setting rebar/concrete stakes, pushing/pulling concrete, finishing concrete with hand tools
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Be safety conscious.
To be successful in this role, a concrete foreman should have the ability to work with precision. They should also have good problem-solving skills and the ability to work well in a team.

The physical demands of the job may require the ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods of time, and work in a variety of weather conditions.

Required to hold a valid driver's license.

  • What is the typical schedule? Monday - Friday; 7:30 - 4:00 (start and end times may need to vary at times)
  • What are some of the specific projects you do? We do commercial projects like laying sewer and sanitary pipes, running water lines, and lots of concrete work (sidewalks, curbs, roads, and decorative). We also move dirt and use GPS for grading.
