The School of Business and Technology at Seton Hill University invites qualified candidates to apply for an Instructor/Assistant Professor of Computer Science faculty position to begin in Fall 2026. The applicant must hold a graduate degree in Computer Science. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in AI and other new and emerging technologies. A doctorate in Computer Science is preferred.
We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about teaching that prepares students for future careers in Computer Science. Teaching assignments include in-class and online courses in Computer Science at the undergraduate levels. The candidate will be expected to participate in professional and program development, advising, outcomes assessment, scholarship, and service activities.Â
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate courses across the computer science curriculum, including foundational courses, data structures, algorithms, software development, and computer systems.
- Develop and expand curriculum in emerging areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, or software engineering.
- Engage in active research with potential for peer-reviewed publications and student involvement.
- Advise students, including directing capstone projects and assisting with internship placement.
- Participate in departmental and university committees, as well as service initiatives that contribute to Seton Hill’s mission and community engagement.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field by the start date.
- Certifications: Certifications in software development, data science, or AI (such as AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, Microsoft Certified Azure AI Engineer, or Google Professional Data Engineer) are highly preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in college-level teaching is preferred. Industry experience in software development, data science, AI, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Skills: Ability to teach a wide range of computer science topics and engage with advanced topics in the candidate’s area of specialization.
- A demonstrated ability to disseminate information to a diverse group of students in an engaging, experiential manner.
- A record of success in a team environment.
Preferred:
- Preference will be given to candidates with:
- PhD in a related field.
- Post-secondary teaching experience, including the use of computer applications for classroom instruction.
- Expertise in AI and other new and emerging technologies.
- Certifications in software development, data science, or AI (such as AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, Microsoft Certified Azure AI Engineer, or Google Professional Data Engineer)
