We're currently seeking a dedicated and organized Production Coordinator to join our team and play a vital role in our production process.

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to manage the procurement of raw materials, supplies, and services for our sheet metal fabrication operations. The role focuses on sourcing high-quality materials at competitive prices while ensuring timely delivery to support production schedules and maintain cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure raw materials (primarily sheet metal such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other alloys), hardware, consumables (e.g., welding supplies, abrasives), and subcontracted services.
• Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers; negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and quality standards.
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders; track order status from placement through receipt and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor inventory levels of key materials to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventory.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and shop management to understand material requirements and forecast needs.
• Analyze quotes, compare supplier options, and make purchasing decisions that optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier performance data, and cost tracking reports.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and industry regulations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing, metal fabrication, or a related industry.
• Knowledge of sheet metal materials, grades, gauges, and common fabrication supplies is highly preferred.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with ERP/MRP or inventory management software.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced shop environment.
• Good math and analytical skills for cost comparisons and forecasting.

Preferred

• Experience reading blueprints or understanding fabrication processes.
• Familiarity with ISO quality systems or similar standards.
