Summary/Objective: The Industrial Electrician plays an essential role in providing detailed technical expertise to perform the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. This role requires a deep understanding of the responsibilities of a helper/top helper and the ability to mentor subordinates while executing advanced electrical tasks with precision and professionalism.


Essential Functions:

  • Install, maintain, modify, and repair electrical systems in industrial and commercial environments.
  • Bend and install conduit (EMT, rigid, etc.) to precise specifications.
  • Identify electrical problems and coordinate timely repairs.
  • Conduct general electrical systems maintenance and troubleshoot issues using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Assist with job layout and execute daily activities in alignment with project goals.
  • Interpret and work from construction drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and takeoffs.
  • Perform layout and installation of raceways, wiring systems, and underground electrical installations.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC and local electrical codes.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical failures efficiently and safely.
  • Collaborate with Foremen, Superintendents, Project Managers and other trades on job sites.
  • Perform testing and inspections of electrical systems.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience.
  • Knowledge of NEC and OSHA safety standards.
  • OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Foreman or Assistant Superintendent is a plus.

 

Work Environment: This position is required to work in a variety of conditions related to construction jobsite environments and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, as assigned. Exposure to weather, heat, etc. is expected.

 

Physical Demands: Ability to perform basic life operational functions: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally; up to 20 lbs. frequently and constantly. Visual acuity required for equipment operation, inspections, and task accuracy.

 

Travel Required: Travel to/from multiple jobsites, projects, and offices. Minimal overnight or weekend travel. The Industrial Electrician is required to have a valid state-issued driver’s license, a satisfactory motor vehicle record and safe driving behavior.
