Full-Time • Onsite

At Sibanye-Stillwater, environmental compliance is more than reporting—it is part of how we operate responsibly, protect our people and communities, and continuously improve our business.

We are looking for an Environmental Compliance Specialist who is ready to build meaningful experience in a complex industrial environment. This is a great opportunity for an early-career environmental professional who wants exposure beyond the desk and the chance to work directly with operations, regulatory requirements, inspections, reporting, and real-world environmental challenges.

You’ll partner with site leadership and operational teams to help keep our facilities compliant, identify opportunities for improvement, and support environmental and safety initiatives that have a direct impact on the business.

What You’ll Do

  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety requirements, including EPA, OSHA, NCDEQ, PADEP, and local agency regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential compliance concerns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain environmental records and prepare required regulatory reports related to air, water, waste, hazardous materials, safety statistics, and sustainability data.
  • Assist with environmental permitting, regulatory reporting, and compliance tracking.
  • Participate in investigations of environmental and safety incidents, complaints, or potential violations and help develop corrective actions.
  • Work directly with Operations and other internal teams to strengthen environmental practices and promote sustainable operations.
  • Support ongoing site safety initiatives and special projects.
  • Help monitor regulatory changes and translate requirements into practical actions at the site level.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, regulatory reporting, environmental consulting, EHS, or a related area.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulatory frameworks such as EPA, RCRA, CERCLA, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with employees and leaders across different functions.
  • Curiosity, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn in a fast-moving industrial environment.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and quickly learn new regulations, processes, and technical requirements.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence others without direct authority.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

Certifications such as CHMM, REM, or CES are preferred but not required.

Why This Role?

This position offers the opportunity to build broad environmental compliance experience while working directly inside an operating facility. You won’t be limited to one area of environmental work—you’ll gain exposure to multiple regulatory programs, interact with operational and technical teams, and see how environmental requirements are applied in real time.

If you are looking to grow your environmental career, expand your regulatory knowledge, and make a visible impact within an industrial operation, we’d like to hear from you.
