Summary: This position is responsible for receiving payments via drive-through, night deposit, mail and/or over the counter, preparing deposits, maintaining accurate balance in cash drawer, opening and closing vault using proper security procedures and accurately posting payments into the computer to appropriate accounts; maintaining appropriate files and records and preparing reports.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities   
Cashiering – Receive member payments via drive-through, night deposit, mail and/or over the counter, verify accuracy of payment, make change, if necessary, inform members of any amount due and due dates for underpayment, deposit appropriate payments to cash drawer. Post payments into computer to appropriate accounts, maintain highest level of accuracy. Balance the cash drawer; verify starting cash in cash drawer. Maintain the security of the cash drawer; prepare deposits. Receive payments by credit/debit cards and balances daily.  Assist walk-in members' and  visitors with their needs by directing them to the appropriate office.      



General Services - Assist with answering telephone. Provide backup support for Member Service Representative. Conduct research on old accounts. Assist Engineering with dispatching. Monitor and restock envelopes in payment drop box.  Monitor and request office supplies. Attend public functions to promote PEC objectives and services.     



Records Management and Reporting - Prepare reports, such as end of day Cash Register and Credit Card reports, Cash Register Detail Report, Cash Register Detail Summary, Cash Register Summary Report, member returned check reports, and Operator Batch Listing.  Verify any account with an ending credit balance.  Maintain records of returned checks, monitor member history to determine proper member correspondence.  Enter proper billing information CT (Cash Only Temporary) and CP (Cash Only Permanent) notes on Member’s account when a check has been returned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalency required. Associate’s degree in office administration, membership or billing/finance preferred. 



Experience: One (1) year previous experience in customer service or cashiering with a bank or other utility preferred.
