Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an Information Security Systems Engineering (ISSE) Director to lead a team in developing and implementing secure systems. This role focuses on ensuring the security of information systems, networks, and data throughout their lifecycle. Key responsibilities include leading security engineering activities, developing and implementing security solutions, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.  Works closely with Government customers to ensure that the security protection needs, concerns and requirements are defined and implemented with appropriate fidelity and rigor, early and in a sustainable manner throughout the life cycle of system that results in obtaining an ATO. The Director , ISSE applies modern systems security engineering principles, practices, and technologies across the full system lifecycle. This leader ensures security is architected, designed, developed, evaluated, integrated, and sustained with the fidelity required to meet customer protection requirements and achieve system security authorization. This role manages experienced security engineering professionals and/or managers. The Director influences leadership drives adoption of new practices & technologies and ensures functional strategies convert into measurable security engineering outcomes.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of Information Security Systems Engineers.
  • Forecast Systems Engineering Manpower needs based on Program and Potential demand forecast.
  • Determine hiring needs and conduct searches to onboard needed System Engineers.
  • Apply systems security engineering methods to architecture, development, and integration of systems.
  • Ensure customer security needs and requirements are captured early and embedded throughout the lifecycle.
  • Lead security authorization and ATO processes.
  • Influence leadership on adoption of new security practices.
  • Track all assigned systems for A&A (Assessment and Authorization) status and oversee accreditation/re-accreditation actions.
  • Support proposal development activities including labor estimation (BOE creation and review) and technical response development
  • Establish training requirements for continued professional development of the team to meet business goals
  • Establish and manage department overhead budget and ensure staff has the tools and equipment needed to effectively conduct their roles.
  • Capable of Problem Solving, Team Leadership, Strategic Thinking / Planning, Communication, IPT / Cross Functional Behavior, Accountability, and Critical Thinking.
  • Review program budgets and schedules with SE program teams.
  • Prepare and deliver effective presentations to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical professionals, including senior level management.
  • Ensure programs translate customer requirements into unique verifiable system level requirements.
  • Work is onsite and cannot be accomplished remotely.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET/SCI.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Software, Physics, etc.) and minimum 15 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 13 years of prior relevant engineering experience. 
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of prior related engineering experience.
  • Prior Senior Management or Lead Experience in Information Security Systems Engineering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DoD Security policies and practices.
  • Demonstrated direction for Engineering teams, which include identifying opportunities for team training and skills advancement.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with fixed-wing and rotary aircraft modification and mission systems.
