HBO Operator – St. Francis Eastside

Job Summary:

The HBO Operator is responsible for the safe administering of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients and providing outpatient wound care. HBO Operator monitors the operations of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related ancillary systems components.

Essential Functions: 

  • Performs Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) treatments and wound assessments.
  • Determine and maintain the safety of patients receiving HBOT treatments.
  • Monitors hyperbaric patient flow to improve efficiencies and productivity.                                                                
  • Assists with clinical practice decisions in collaboration with HBO Safety Administrator and regional clinical leadership.
  • Provides daily oversight and guidance of all aspects of the hyperbaric program.                                                    

Education:

  • High School Degree or GED


Licensure/Certification:

  • Must possess one of the following:
    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state they are working or covered by compact or Registered Nurse (RN) applicant
    • Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
    • Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) certification
  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred)
  • Hyperbaric Certification (preferred)

Experience:

  • Experience in acute care or home health care (required)
  • Experience in Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (preferred)
  • Experience in Hospital Outpatient Setting (preferred)

Training:

  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)
  • Successful completion of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) approved 40 hour course and completion of written exam (required within 8 weeks of hire)
