Carolina Psychiatry, DBA Taral Sharma MD PC, provides compassionate, evidence-based outpatient mental health care for adults and adolescents throughout South Carolina. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, physician assistants, therapists, and other behavioral health professionals working together to provide personalized care.
Our services include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and Spravato® treatment for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and other mental health conditions.
Position Summary
Carolina Psychiatry is seeking a compassionate and motivated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our Greenville outpatient practice. The PMHNP will provide comprehensive psychiatric care, including new-patient evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, and ongoing treatment planning.
The provider will also participate in the evaluation, treatment, and monitoring of appropriate patients receiving Spravato® and TMS services. Candidates with prior experience in these treatments are encouraged to apply; however, training and clinical support may be provided to qualified candidates without previous Spravato or TMS experience.
We welcome both experienced providers and newly certified PMHNPs who are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered behavioral healthcare. The expectation is 75 patients a week, with a schedule M-F 8:30-5:30.Â
Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for new patients.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions.
- Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans based on each patient’s clinical needs and goals.
- Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management, including prescribing, monitoring effectiveness, assessing side effects, and making appropriate treatment adjustments.
- Provide psychotherapy and supportive therapeutic interventions within the provider’s training and scope of practice.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, symptom management, and overall wellness.
- Evaluate appropriate patients for Spravato® and TMS treatment in collaboration with the supervising psychiatrist and clinical team.
- Participate in the clinical oversight, monitoring, and ongoing management of patients receiving Spravato® treatment.
- Support TMS treatment planning and monitor patient progress throughout the course of treatment.
- Coordinate care with psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, and other members of the patient’s healthcare team.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
- Complete accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Follow all applicable clinical protocols, prescribing requirements, regulatory standards, and organizational policies.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of ethical and professional practice.
- Participate in clinical meetings, case consultations, and quality-improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current national board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, or scheduled to obtain certification before the start date.
- Current South Carolina APRN license with prescriptive authority, or eligibility to obtain prior to employment.
- DEA registration and other prescribing credentials, or eligibility to obtain.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered care.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative outpatient environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous outpatient psychiatric or behavioral health experience.
- Experience providing care to adults, adolescents, or both.
- Experience with psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy.
- Familiarity with treatment-resistant depression.
- Experience with Spravato® or TMS is beneficial but not required.
- Newly certified PMHNPs with strong clinical training and an interest in outpatient psychiatry are encouraged to apply.
