What you will be doing:

Reviews job order to determine the appropriate equipment and materials that should be used.  This includes determining:

-proper mandrel size

-proper belt to be used with the mandrel and paper width requirements

-proper paper size and width

Utilizing the appropriate equipment and materials, sets up and operates the winding machine.  This includes:

- adjusting the angles of the paper on the dry stand

- adjusting the angles of the paper on the glue rack

- proper spacing of  ribbons to make the tubes

- preparing the glue pots for use and using proper adhesive to ensure all plies have the   

   proper amount of adhesive and tubes are glued properly

- adjusting tension on winding belt and paper as required

- splicing additional paper as required to continue a smooth flow of production

- verifying the outer diameter and core thickness specifications each hour,

  documenting the measurements that are taken.

Sets up and operates the tube saw by inserting the proper saw blades and adjusting the saw for the proper diameter tube length and even cut-off.

While the equipment is running, continuously checks the critical areas to ensure a quality product.  These areas include:

- safety

- inside and outside dimension (pi tape)

- tube length

- gap (paper measurement)

- adhesion (sheets and overlap)

- ply spacing

-Works with other members of the production team on that line to complete the tasks necessary for set-up of the entire line.  This would include the Line Support, Line Lead, and Production Associate.

-Is the direct back-up to the Line Lead.

-Performs the required maintenance of the equipment, including lubrication and oiling of the winder and saw.

-Keeps machines and working area clean on a daily basis.  Returns equipment and unused materials to the proper storage locations.

-Works safely with others instructing any helpers in the proper use of the machine.  Uses all safety guards as they are intended to be used.

-High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  One to three months related experience and/or training.

-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to complete production reports.

-Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
