Job Title: Kitchen Cook
Reports To: Head Chef, Restaurant Manager, Shift Leaders
Summary:
The Kitchen Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards. They
work as part of a team to ensure that food is prepared efficiently, consistently, and to the highest quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
β Food Preparation:
β Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, measuring spices, and portioning meat and
seafood.
β Follow recipes and cooking instructions accurately to ensure consistency and quality.
β Cook food using various methods, such as grilling, frying, sautΓ©ing, and baking.
β Plate dishes attractively and according to restaurant standards.
β Kitchen Maintenance and Sanitation:
β Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment, utensils, and surfaces.
β Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring proper handling and storage of food.
β Assist with cleaning and organizing the kitchen at the end of each shift.
β Assist in maintaining clean and well kept vent hood systems.
β Teamwork and Communication:
β Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff, including the head chef and other cooks.
β Work collaboratively to ensure efficient and timely food preparation.
β Assist other team members as needed.
β Additional Duties:
β May be responsible for receiving and storing deliveries.
β Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Qualifications:
β Experience: Previous experience as a cook or in a similar role is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and
develop culinary skills is essential.
β Skills: Basic knife skills, ability to follow recipes and instructions, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and good
communication skills.
β Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and work in a hot
and sometimes stressful environment.
