Description

 

The residential care staff’s primary responsibility is to Role Model appropriate behavior while mentoring and supervising students in educational, recreational, leisure and vocational settings. The residential care staff’s main concerns include the safety and supervision of the youth in the program. Essential responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

Essential Functions:

1. Provide care and supervision of the youth in the residential commitment setting.

2. Act in a supportive role to encourage youth in education, training, work, and treatment programs.

2. Provide a positive role model for youth, reinforce pro-social behavior, and enforce program rules.

3. Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.

5. Effectively implement the behavior motivation system.

6. Complete all documentation as required in accordance with Twin Oaks / DJJ policies.

7. Effectively address youth unacceptable behavior through verbal dialog.

8. Completes incident, accident, and behavioral reports according to procedures.

9. Collects/summarizes program data and inputs as required by supervisor.

10. Facilitates supervision and instruction for all activities as needed.

12. Prevent and intervene in student altercations and incidents.

14. Effectively communicate with the Shift Supervisor and other employees.

15. Safely transport students to off-site appointments or activities.

16. If needed, will participate in off campus trips.

17. Will drive Twin Oaks vehicles as required in accordance with the transportation policy.

18. If needed, will provide emergency First Aid and CPR in accordance with American Red Cross Standards.

19. Conduct and practice emergency evacuation procedures.

20. Attend and participate in all required meetings and trainings.

21. Assumes other duties, responsibilities, shifts and/or hours as directed or needed for efficient operations of the program.


Requirements

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Certification in CPR, First Aid by a nationally recognized organization (Red Cross, AHA).

Certification in PAR

Current state driver’s license (CDL may be required).

High School Diploma or GED

Meet criminal background check and drug screening per state requirements.
