Diagnoses, evaluates, treats, counsels patients with a wide variety of communication disorders and swallowing disorders. Provides appropriate care for patients served according to age, using procedures consistent with the scope and standards of practice.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Evaluates patient's communication or swallowing function within the scope and standards of practice, keeping service excellence as a main priority.
  • 2. Establishes and conducts a treatment program and keeps timely documentation that is in line with departmental, hospital and regulatory standards.
  • 3. Communicates evaluation results and progress in therapy.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


Master's degree in speech-language pathology.


SPECIAL SKILLS


Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech, Language, Hearing Association (includes nine months of supervised internship and a qualifying national examination); CT license; continuing educational units; computer literacy; excellent communication (aural/oral/writing) skills.


PHYSICAL DEMAND


Works in a typical office setting. May be required to work a flexible schedule. May be required to monitor radiation exposure with a film badge Moderate amount of sitting and walking with some stooping or bending.
