CNC Mill Operator

Position Purpose:

The CNC Mill Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce precision components. This position ensures products meet quality standards, specifications, and production timelines while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Set up CNC milling machines, including loading tools, fixtures, and raw materials 
  • Operate CNC mills according to blueprints, drawings, and work instructions 
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust settings to maintain product quality and efficiency 
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges 
  • Identify and troubleshoot machining issues and escalate concerns when necessary 
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment 
  • Accurately complete production and quality documentation 
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S standards) 
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel to meet production goals 

Actively participate in efforts to establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment. Follow policies, programs, and procedures for the reduction and elimination of work-related  accidents and provide quality feedback to promote safer work behaviors and condition

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred 
  • 1–3 years of CNC milling or machining experience (or equivalent training) 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings 
  • Basic understanding of machining processes and tooling 
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Familiarity with G-code and CNC programming concepts 
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) 
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment 
  • Effective communication skills 
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities 
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement 

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is required to stand for long periods of time, walk, sit, climb or balance and stoop.  Frequent twisting, turning, reaching, bending, pulling and pushing are also required.  The employee must be able to handle up to 60 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
