As an EMT with Greenwood EMS, you’ll play a critical role in providing emergency medical care and support during patient transport. You’ll use essential skills such as airway management, patient assessment, and basic life support to ensure the safety and well-being of every patient in your care.

  • Primary Role: Greenwood EMS primarily acts as a backup to two full-time private services in the area. We do minimal inter-facility transfers, keeping our focus on emergency response.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide immediate, lifesaving medical care and transport in emergency situations.
  • Perform patient assessments and administer basic life support techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, EMS team members, and hospital staff.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure vehicles are ready for rapid deployment.

Qualifications:

  • Current EMT certification and state licensure (or eligibility).
  • CPR certification.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress situations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

LIMITED OPENINGS AVAILABLE

Salary Range: EMT A $42,467.92 - 51,620.02

                       EMT B $38,519.65 - 42,467.92 

SALARY/PAY RATE: Starting pay for and EMT-A $42,467.92 plus additional $915.21 per each year of verified certification. EMT-B $38,519.65 plus additional $394.83 per each year of verified certification. (Max of 10 years in grade.)

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires high school diploma OR GED equivalent supplemented by EMT courses/training equivalent.
  • Requires successful completion of current SC EMT-Basic curriculum and S.C. written and practical examinations OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must be in good physical health.
  • Must possess a current SC EMT certification
  • Must possess a clean SC driver's license.
  • No prior experience is required.
