The Sr. Security Install Technician is responsible for performing advanced installation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. This role demonstrates strong technical functionality, may hold applicable licenses, and can complete jobs independently with minimal oversight. The Sr. Security Install Technician may also guide and support entry-level technicians while ensuring systems are installed properly, customer expectations are met, and work complies with applicable codes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform advanced installation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of intrusion alarms, access control systems, CCTV, and related low-voltage security systems.

  • Diagnose installation issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.

  • Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, technical manuals, and project specifications.

  • Install system components including devices, panels, wiring, and associated hardware according to project requirements.

  • Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete installation work efficiently and safely.

  • Complete installation documentation, work orders, inspection reports, and project reports accurately and on time.

  • Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and project status.

  • Provide guidance and support to entry-level technicians and apprentices in the field.

  • Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.

  • Travel to job sites as required.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of experience in fire and life safety industry as a technician.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.

  • Strong working knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, system drawings, and specifications.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • NICET Level II or above preferred.

  • Experience with commercial security systems and integrated low-voltage platforms preferred.

  • Manufacturer certifications in security, access control, or video surveillance systems preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.

  • Use of hand tools and testing equipment.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
