Job Category: Support AssistantThe student, under general supervision of designated supervisor andusing independent judgement, performs a variety of duties in support ofa program, academic, student services, and/or merchandise operation.May require conducting financial transactions. Requires strongcommunication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, and workindependently.

Duties:

Garden duties:-Routine watering, weeding, pruning, and harvesting of fruit andvegetable plants -Use permaculture techniques, manage compost, maintain gardeninfrastructure

-Utilize harvest on campus or in community

-Collaborate with Global Kitchen to produce meals for community

 

Prairie duties:-Water, weed, and provide other maintenance as needed to new on-campusnative plantings (along sidewalk near Harris Center-Provide maintenance and weeding to existing mature prairie plantingsnear soccer fields and by Macy House -Potential to work with CERA summer interns both on-campus and at CERA

 

Other duties:

-On rainy or excessively hot days, assist the Center for Prairie Studies with administrative and programming projects.

Qualifications

-Interest in gardening and/or prairie restoration

-Ability to work in Summer heat

-Ability to work unsupervised

-Ability to work collaboratively with others
