Job Description:
The museum guide is responsible for the security of the art work and museum space with assistance from a museum security guard and helping guests feel welcome at Grinnell College Museum of Art. The museum guide is also responsible for an accurate hourly count of visitors to the museum and for entering hours worked in their ADP timesheet by the end of each shift.

The museum guide acts as the face of Grinnell College Museum of Art and will often be the first person a visitor sees when entering the museum. The museum guide is responsible for disseminating information regarding the current exhibition, Grinnell College Museum of Art, and Grinnell College.

The museum guide will interact with faculty, staff, student, and community visitors including minors. Museum guides are also expected to respond to emails sent by the museum director in a timely manner and to share in covering hours of co-workers when possible.

Responsibilities:
• Greet visitors of all ages to the museum in a positive and pleasant manner to make them feel
welcome and offer information about exhibitions, programs, and iPads.
• Count and record people who visit the museum.
• Observe and interact with visitors in the museum and protect the artwork.
• Set up and tear down chairs, tables, and AV equipment for events in the museum.
• Must be organized and responsible for reporting to work on time, recording timesheet hours in ADP at every shift, and committed to the work hours agreed upon at the beginning of the semester, or swapping shifts when necessary.
• Be responsible for a working knowledge of information provided in the student staff handbook.
• At the beginning of each shift, visually inventory all artwork in the museum for damage and
anything out of place. Record all findings on an inventory report form located in the desk
reference book.
• Stow away all personal work and devices when visitors are in the museum. Full attention to the
museum and visitors should be given whenever anyone is in the museum.
