Philanthropy & Engagement Ambassador

The Student Engagement Ambassador will serve as an ambassador for Grinnell College
and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. This role supports the Annual Giving
team by creating compelling digital content, assisting with fundraising campaigns, and
engaging alumni, parents, and other constituents through personalized outreach.
Ambassador will be responsible for:
• Create engaging content (email, video, social media, and other digital materials) to
connect alumni, parents, and friends with Grinnell College.
• Make solicitation phone calls to alumni, parents, and other constituents to
encourage philanthropic support.
• Provide content support for Annual Giving campaigns, including Giving Tuesday,
Scarlet & Give Back Day, and other initiatives throughout the year.
• Assist with additional duties such as communications, event planning, and
constituent engagement as needed.

Essential job functions:
• Represent the institution professionally and promote the mission of
Grinnell College.
• Complete solicitation calls to alumni and parents to renew, increase, and acquire
gifts to the College.
• Write and enter contact reports into Raiser's Edge database as needed.
• Maintain a positive approach while responding to potentially challenging concerns
or issues that constituents may bring up.
• Assist with the creation of digital marketing pieces including production of videos
and social media content to be used in concert with Annual Giving campaigns.
• Openness to being featured in College communications including print and video
pieces.
• Participate in regular meetings with supervisor and the Annual Giving team, as
needed.
• Sign confidentiality document and maintain donor confidentiality regarding donor
information, database information, and giving history.
• Work in a goal and metric oriented role, meet established deadlines and achieve
fundraising goals as set by office leadership.

Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, and database
technologies.
• Comfort with and willingness to call alumni and parents for donations
on behalf of the College.
• Knowledge of Grinnell College's program, place, and people to
sufficiently inform a solicitation and communication strategy.
• Comfort and willingness to be spotlighted in Annual Giving campaigns
including print, digital, and video pieces.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Congenial and positive attitude.
• High degrees of tact, sound judgment, diplomacy, confidentiality,
professionalism and maturity.
