Saalex is seeking an Engineering Technician, V in Groton, CT.  Saalex Corp., is an Engineering and Information Technology Services company with a focus on Test Range Operations and Management, Engineering and Logistics Services, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence Services and Information Technology Services.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $95k-$115k annually (depending on experience)
Work Location: Full-time onsite

Position Summary:

This role performs non-routine and complex engineering assignments that involve planning and executing a complete project of limited scope, or a defined portion of a larger, more diverse project. The position requires selecting and adapting appropriate plans, techniques, designs, and layouts to meet project objectives.

The individual will coordinate with personnel in related activities to resolve problems, integrate technical work, and ensure successful execution. A supervisory or professional engineer will outline objectives, requirements, and design approaches, and completed work will be reviewed for technical adequacy and compliance with requirements. The role may also involve training or providing guidance to lower-level technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment
  • Conduct tests or experiments; analyze results and redesign or modify equipment to improve performance
  • Develop designs from general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), including equipment without critical performance constraints such as engine parts, research instruments, or special-purpose circuitry
  • Analyze technical data to determine applicability to design problems and select from multiple possible design layouts
  • Calculate design data and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, and procedures
  • Review and analyze drawings or equipment to determine design adequacy
  • Plan or assist in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance
  • Determine test requirements, equipment modifications, and test procedures
  • Conduct tests using all types of instruments
  • Analyze and evaluate test results and prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Required:

  • Technical school diploma
  • 5 years’ work-related experience in electrical/electronic systems
  • Demonstrated relevant knowledge and experience with the operation and maintenance of submarine tactical electronic equipment, such as:
    • SONAR
    • Combat Control
    • Electronic Warfare
    • Other related systems

Security Clearance:

Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
