Who We Are
Hi, we're the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Yes, we're a foodbank and collect and distribute an impressive amount of food, but that's not all. We're also a group of passionate individuals dedicated to exploring new ideas to tackle tough social issues from food insecurity to poverty to health as a whole. So when life happens, we're here for our neighbors that need us.
Scope of Service
The Healthy Harvest Corps (HHC) is an AmeriCorps program administered by the Ohio Association of Foodbanks to help expand and sustain Food Is Medicine initiatives statewide. These efforts treat reliable access to nutritious food as a key driver of improved health and well-being. As an AmeriCorps member at Mid-Ohio Food Collective, you will support neighbors by increasing access to healthy food and practical nutrition knowledge.
Key responsibilities include delivering basic nutrition education through group sessions, pantry outreach, and community events; using clear, approachable messaging on balanced meals, fruits and vegetables, food labels, and healthier choices; engaging customers during pantry operations with informal guidance; and supporting produce box programs through packing, distribution, and customer coordination. You will also help create and share education materials, weave nutrition messaging into distribution settings, support Healthy Eating Research (HER) awareness, participate in partner meetings, and track service activities and participation.
Required skills include communication, teamwork, public speaking, writing/editing, and general education/public health interest.
