The Lead Warehouse Worker position is responsible for carrying out the logistics of receiving, processing, storing and sending inventory according to the SAP system and shipping schedules. Their duties include loading orders onto trucks and shipping containers, unloading and organizing incoming stock, and putting the appropriate labels on outgoing orders.  The Lead Warehouse Worker may also package material off from a railcar or bulk truck into Gaylord boxes using a pneumatic packaging system.  Assist other team members as needed and lead or assist with special assignments or tasks as requested. 

 

Lead Warehouse Worker Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily warehouse activities with office and production teams to keep work moving safely and efficiently.
  • Open and secure the facility, including rail gates, LTL doors, and other access points. Use hand radios to maintain clear communication across the facility.
  • Pull and prepare outbound orders, unload inbound materials, and provide support to production as needed. Maintain enough pulled orders to meet shipping schedules.
  • Review orders and receiving documents for accuracy. Update the pace board and complete process and railcar audits as required.
  • Check inventory levels and complete safety stock audits. Perform daily pre-trip inspections on lift equipment to support safe operation.
  • Support rail yard and railcar activities, including yard checks, railcar sampling, railcar sign-offs, and checks of rail signs and chocks on switch days.
  • Complete required safety inspections, including monthly fire extinguisher checks, and follow all warehouse safety and operating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the rail siding. Monitor break schedules, manage blend orders as assigned, and perform other warehouse duties as directed by leadership.

Other Responsibilities

  • Reviews paperwork to ensure transport of material is authorized and in compliance.
  • Provides outstanding customer service during the delivery and pickup operations.
  • Ensures delivered goods correspond to products identified on the bill of lading.
  • During loading and unloading of truck process: check weights of shipment and monitor distribution weight to legal road limits, check material for damage and quantity discrepancies, and engage appropriate Nexeo Plastics team member if any discrepancies exist.
  • Operates forklift to pick material, store and stage material and bulk offload material from either bulk tank trucks or rail cars.
  • Performs any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations (e.g., warehouse clean up).
  • Attends and participates in training meetings.
  • Performs duties and tasks in a manner consistent with Business Responsibilities of Nexeo Plastics.
  • Special tasks and projects as assigned by management and serve as a leader in the warehouse.

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience & Skills)

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of previous warehouse experience.
  • Inventory, Equipment maintenance, data entry, and computer skills may be required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and apply instructions in the English language. 
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all laws governing the trucking and warehousing industry.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations related to container quantities, blending, etc.
  • Must be a team player/team-oriented.
  • Must be available to work multiple shifts.
  • Continuously be able to identify warehouse layout and assess clearance between objects.
  • Ability to see warning signals.
  • Ability to stand and walk constantly throughout the day.
  • Work requires exerting force frequently, and/or up to 55 pounds to constantly move objects, lift, carry and put away parcels.
