Product Owner

This is a full-time remote position, but you must be located in one of the following states:  AK, FL, NC, SC, GA, OK, TN, TX, VA

Product Owner

The Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value of the product by managing and prioritizing the product backlog, ensuring the development team delivers high-quality features that align with business objectives. Acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and the technical team, the Product Owner translates business needs into actionable requirements, drives sprint execution, and ensures that the final product meets stakeholder expectations and end-user needs.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with leadership to understand and align on the product vision and goals.
• Translate strategic objectives into actionable initiatives and maintain a clear product roadmap.
• Work with stakeholders to identify and define functional and non-functional requirements.
• Document business processes, user stories, and acceptance criteria with clarity and precision.
• Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring it is prioritized based on business value and impact.
• Regularly refine backlog items to provide clarity for the development team during sprint planning.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the business and technical teams.
• Balance competing priorities across departments while ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Partner with the Scrum Master and development team to plan sprints, define goals, and ensure clear task allocation.
• Participate in sprint reviews and retrospectives to continuously improve delivery processes.
• Use Jira (or equivalent tools) to track epics, stories, bugs, and progress across sprints.
• Ensure transparency in sprint status, impediments, and deliverables.
• Represent the voice of the customer by gathering user feedback and ensuring it informs product decisions.
• Advocate for an excellent user experience (UX) in collaboration with design and engineering teams.
• Use analytics and performance data to validate product decisions and measure success against KPIs.
• Identify opportunities for optimization and iterate based on measurable outcomes.
• Coordinate with development and QA teams to plan, test, and deliver product releases.
• Communicate release timelines, updates, and key changes to stakeholders.
• Identify risks or roadblocks that may impact delivery and work proactively to mitigate them.
• Escalate critical issues and coordinate resolutions with relevant teams.
• Contribute to process improvements that enhance team efficiency and product delivery.
• Stay informed of industry trends and best practices to ensure product competitiveness.
• Ensure all stakeholders have a shared understanding of priorities, timelines, and goals.
• Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication throughout the product lifecycle.

Nice-to-Have Skills 

• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate 
• Experience with enterprise or internal business applications 
• Exposure to system integrations or workflow automation 
• Experience supporting change management or user adoption initiatives 
• Experience supporting compliance driven processes through requirements, testing, and documentation 
• Scrum Product Owner or Agile certification (CSPO, PSPO, or equivalent) 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or related role within Agile product development.
• Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with hands-on experience in backlog management.
• Ability to translate business needs into detailed product requirements and user stories.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience working with SaaS, ERP, or market-facing COTS products is a plus.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile tools.
• Experience using Jira for backlog management and sprint tracking 
• 1–3 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role 
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and product delivery lifecycles 
• Proven experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional documentation 
• Hands-on experience performing manual QA testing and validating business requirements 
• Experience working directly with developers and cross-functional delivery teams 
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills 
• Comfortable facilitating meetings, demos, and training sessions 
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with e-commerce, workflow automation, or ERP systems.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
• Experience in managing integrations and API-driven products.
• Knowledge of best practices in:
  • User-Centered Design (UCD)
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) automation
  • Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Experience working with Quality Engineering teams to improve product reliability and automation.
