About the role

The Guernsey Youth & Housing Project supports young people aged 11 to 25 across the Bailiwick, helping them overcome challenges and build brighter futures. Our work focuses on preventing homelessness and addressing the wider issues that can lead to it, including independent living skills, substance use, leaving care, employability, and social isolation. Through more than 20 dedicated projects, we provide practical support, guidance, and opportunities that enable young people to thrive.

As Service Coordinator, you will play a vital role in both leading people and changing lives. You will provide direct support to young people while managing and developing a small team of frontline workers. Through effective leadership, supervision, and operational management, you will help ensure the delivery of high-quality services that achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

This role has a particular focus on our Employment & Wellbeing Service, supporting young people to access training, employment, and meaningful opportunities while improving their overall wellbeing. You will also oversee our volunteer programme and coordinate our Action Mentoring volunteers, helping to build strong networks of support around young people.

We are proud to offer services that are welcoming, accessible, and centred on respect. We value every young person as an individual and are committed to providing professional, non-judgemental, and confidential support that empowers young people to make informed, healthy decisions and realise their full potential.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about youth work, confident in leading others, and motivated by the chance to make a lasting difference in their community.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

In this role, here are some of the things you’ll be responsible and accountable for:

  • Providing high quality services to children, young people and their families, based on an assessment of need and outcomes.
  • Working closely with senior staff and managers to review and evaluate service provision, ensuring continued improvements are made, driving innovation and business development, in particular for an assigned area of work.
  • Participating, chairing, facilitating and leading of relevant multiagency meetings e.g. service planning meetings, home visits and conference meetings, where appropriate.
  • Being responsible for the delivery of quality services, including operational and strategic planning and deployment of resources and to work with commissioners and other external bodies.
  • Nurturing, developing and promoting effective relationships and channels of communication with colleagues, community organisations, partner agencies and other external agencies.
  • Providing direct and overall line management of staff, applying appropriate policies and procedures, also sharing knowledge and experience through coaching and mentoring techniques.
  • Ensuring case work standards are adhered to from referral through to closure of cases, using appropriate IT systems.
  • Producing and presenting analytical and written reports, using data and other sources to improve performance and service delivery.
