Position Summary:

The Construction Laborer supports Carver Companies’ civil construction operations by performing a variety of physical tasks on active job sites. This role assists with the construction of roads, utilities, site development, and other infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, outdoor work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform general labor duties, including digging, grading, lifting, and material handling.
Operate hand and power tools such as shovels, jackhammers, compactors, and saws.
Assist equipment operators, carpenters, and other skilled trades as needed.
Load and unload construction materials, equipment, and tools.
Set up and maintain traffic control and job site safety barriers.
Prepare and maintain job sites, including clearing debris and minimizing hazards.
Follow direction from supervisors and collaborate effectively with team members.
Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Perform additional duties as needed to support project completion.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
OSHA 10 certification.
Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
Familiarity with basic construction tools and equipment.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Preferred Experience:

Previous experience in construction or a related field.
OSHA 30 certification.
Experience with GPS or laser-guided equipment.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry materials up to 75 pounds.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working on uneven terrain.
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe boots) in operational areas.

Work Environment:

Primarily outdoor construction sites with exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
Fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on project needs.
Travel between job sites may be required.
