Position Overview:
We are looking for a versatile QA/QC Specialist with deep expertise in Fixed Plant Equipment to support our growing open-pit copper mining operation. This role bridges greenfield expansion projects and brownfield sustaining operations, ensuring that new installations seamlessly integrate with our existing infrastructure while maintaining uncompromising quality standards across all crushing, grinding, flotation, and material handling circuits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greenfield Project Execution: Provide QA/QC oversight for greenfield installations and new plant expansions, ensuring greenfield assets are built right the first time from ground up to commissioning.
- Brownfield Integration & Sustaining Capital: Oversee quality control for brownfield tie-ins, major plant retrofits, scheduled shutdowns, day-to-day scheduled work and replacement of aging fixed assets within the active processing facility.
- Inspection & Verification: Execute Receiving, In-Process, and Final QC inspections on heavy fixed plant equipment (e.g., crushers, mills, screens, thickeners, slurry pumps, and conveyor systems).
- Code & Standard Compliance: Verify that all mechanical, structural, and piping works conform to engineering drawings, OEM specifications, and relevant industry codes (ASME, AWS, ISO).
- Documentation & Handover: Review and audit quality dossiers, Material Test Reports (MTRs), Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), NDE results, and final commissioning documentation for both project handovers and operational asset records.
- Education: A Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering is preferred but not required or a recognized Trade Certification. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent QA/QC certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of QA/QC experience in heavy industry, with a proven track record split across both greenfield construction projects and brownfield operational environments.
- Technical Expertise:
- Thorough working knowledge of comminution circuits, material handling, and thickener/tailings infrastructure.
- Strong familiarity with NDE methods (UT, MT, PT, RT) and the ability to interpret complex P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and isometric piping drawings.
- Operational Adaptability: Ability to navigate the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of active brownfield shutdowns alongside the rigorous milestone tracking required for greenfield project delivery.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and CMMS or project management platforms (e.g., SAP, Pronto, Primavera P6).
