The Physical Therapist I provides physical therapy services to individuals and their families in a team relationship with other health care providers in a setting that is designated by the department.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Pediatric Physical Therapist I at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Performs all functions associated with the evaluation of patients for all age groups within the department`s responsibility.
- Performs all functions associated with the execution of therapeutic treatment for all age groups within the department`s responsibility.
- Completes all documentation required within the regarded timeline according to department.
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:- Graduation from an accredited physical therapy school.
- Minimum of 0 -2 years` experience.
- Specific only to the Physical Therapist I in the Pediatric/Institute for Child Development (ICD), a minimum of 2 or more years of previous pediatric experience, preferably in a medical and or possibly outpatient pediatric clinical or school setting. A strong pediatric clinical affiliation will also be considered.
- Physical Therapist License.
- BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
- Regular contact with Hackensack University Medical Center personnel and its visitors.
- Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
